Once again, Scott has teamed up with entertainment photographer Jeremy Cowart to take viewers along on a series of live shoots. Jeremy and Scott walk along the beach in sunny California, looking for inspiration with no pre-determined shots in mind. This course is all about experimentation and being creative with the camera while using a minimal amount of equipment. During the lessons, Jeremy talks about composition, balancing light, working with photography assistants, and how he recognizes what the right images for his clients are. It does not matter what type of photographer you are, everyone will find inspiration in this course.

  1. Introduction (02:44) Scott talks about what was covered in the fist course and what he and Jeremy will be doing in this second course
  2. Reflected Metal (10:18) In his first setup, Jeremy positions his model on the boardwalk and tries to find the interesting shot he is looking for
  3. Negative Space (14:20) Jeremy and Scott talk about working with assistants on a shoot and Jeremy's love of negative space
  4. Layered Composition (07:26) Jeremy combines light, scenery, and graphic elements in the frame to create a shot with a lot of levels
  5. Think Like an Art Director (03:09) Scott and Jeremy discuss the importance of knowing your client and giving them the shot they are looking for
  6. Girl on the Rocks (06:50) As he sets up his next shot, Jeremy talks about using natural light, strobes, and flashes on his shoots
  7. Classic Beauty Shot (12:28) Bouncing the available light onto the subject using reflectors
  8. Vintage Bike (11:29) Jeremy puts his subject on a bicycle and picks a focus point to shoot with rapid fire as she rides by
  9. Beach Umbrella (07:58) Classic clothes and classic striped umbrella make for a great classic black and white
  10. Conclusion (03:08) Creativity is the most important element on a shoot - trying to get the most output you can from basic setups

Great course! It must not have been easy creating these two videos in one day. Jeremy is very inspiring and he teaches how to see the world and how not to walk past great scenes. This course goes way beyond the simple "what aperture and shutter speed to use" type of advise (although that part is covered too). Thanks a lot! + It was great that you covered the issue of photo permits!

Great lesson. It is amazing how you were doing everything in the brightest parts of the day. I learned valuable information about shooting during the day and how you can use bad locations and make them into great photography!! Even though you were not in bad location you made photography out of things that every one has in the town. Love it
